alright the game is done. It might have some small bugs on the edge conditions but give it a shot and let me know how you like it. It's called "Name the Notes" and you can find it under the Fretboard Notes section

Udit Love the game - would it be possible as an option to add more (or all?) note options instead of just 3? I find myself "cheating" subconsciously by looking at the three possibilities.

I might be able to add a setting to return more/all options. I personally find the design aesthetic displeasing to show all the options 😀. It's what annoys me about the UI design of a lot of other apps/games like this. But I want to balance it with learning effectiveness. If more options is more effective for users, then the aesthetics be damned, I'll give more options.
Matt
Udit Thanks, I agree it could be really overwhelming. Maybe the solution is to show ~5 random notes instead of 3 adjacent notes?

Matt Added a setting for 3/4/5 possible answers. Check it out and let me know if it worked for you
Matt
UditThanks, I'll take a look later today and let you know.
Matt
Udit Tried it out - it works really well! Thanks so much.
Udit
Matt awesome! Glad to hear. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks Matt. I've been meaning to build this version for a bit but I'll bump it up in priority. Just out of curiosity, are you a paid member or on a free plan right now? If on a free plan, would you be willing to sign up for a paid plan if I build this?
thanks

Matt
Udit Hi - thanks so much. I'm actually on a paid plan, but it was something I expected that would be built shortly (since it's a natural follow on from what you already have).
Udit
Matt Got it! Yeah, I've been focused on building all the other stuff apart from notes (intervals, triads, scales, chords etc.) and no one requested this in a long time. I can schedule starting on it next week. It'll take a bit to complete since it doesnt follow the usual game pattern (find it on the fretboard vs name the thing already on the fretboard) but I'll get on it soon.
Thanks for the feedback. While we're chatting, anything else you'd like to see?
Matt
Udit No rush - and I appreciate the dialog. The only other thing I've run into (and I haven't looked at it closely recently) is more granular interval training where I could limit it to next string, two strings, etc. Overall, I love the site, and it's the thing that finally got me to memorize the fretboard.
Udit
Matt so you actually have that fine grained control in the current filters for intervals. Funny that you mention that because I was considering rehauling the course and game and getting rid of the string proximity filters thinking that its overkill. Glad we had this conversation and let me know if you have any trouble with it. Take care.
